TREATMENT
The SkinPen® is the best and most effective microneedling device out there today. It can be customized to your specific needs with needles that can be adjusted to varying depths. The SkinPen® also glides over skin easily and offers consistent results.

Microneedling has a range of different benefits. First, microneedling is able to address many of the different signs of aging. With the production of collagen and elastin, the fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth, nose and eyes will be gradually reduced. Microneedling with SkinPen® will also help to gradually reduce age spots and hyperpigmentation.

Microneedling can also reduce the look of scars that were caused by acne breakouts. Usually, when a blemish ruptures it will damage the surrounding tissue, and then your skin rebuilds itself with disorganized collagen. Microneedling wears away that scarred collagen and prompts new collagen to heal over the area.

Before we begin, we use a topical atheistic so that the treatment is also pain free. You may experience some tenderness or redness, which is expected as your skin will be healing itself, but that should go away within 24 hours.

For some of our Dubuque Medspa patients, combining the microneedling treatment with the application of platelet rich plasma (PRP) can enchance the treatment results. This super rejuvenating booster is designed to use your body’s own growth factors to help the skin from the inside out.

PRP is used in many medical fields as a tool to assist in tissue regeneration, wound healing, scar revision, skin rejuvenation and even hair loss. Our blood is made of two main parts: red blood cells and plasma. Plasma, the action ingredient in this treatment, contains white blood cells and platelets. Platelets are typically responsible for your blood’s ability to form a clot after a cut, but they also contain growth factors, which act as messengers to signal various cell types to carry out their designated function. When used in facial plastic surgery, growth factor-rich PRP helps repair blood vessels, promote cell growth and wound healing, and stimulate collagen production for younger looking skin.

We use Selphyl Platelet-Rich Fibrin which is also called "second generation PRP" because unlike other PRP, growth factors are released over 7 days, leading to enhanced results.
